Maureen Janssens is a self-taught Canadian Artist who resides in Southern Alberta. She is drawn to the “majestic landscapes” that surround our extraordinary countryside. Inspired by the pallet of color that “mother nature” provides with each new sunset, sunrise and the changing seasons, Maureen’s artistic eye and passion for color are translated to canvas.
She prefers to use acrylics allowing the use expressive brush strokes full of vibrant colors that bring her paintings to life. Maureen works out of her studio (Buffalo Girl Studio) which is a loft above the barn on her property, which provides a stupendous view of the Foothills. When not painting “en plein air”, she works from scenes she has captured on film.
Her abstract, impressionist paintings offer viewers a look at the world through her eyes, as well as an insight into her introspective journey-one charged with enthusiasm and curiosity.
